The bold bright rainbow colors of these products will provide the essentials needed for a “gig” that will be “a gas!” Plates, napkins, cups, balloons, and centerpieces in colors of race-car red, lemon yellow, atomic orange, magenta, grape and golf-course green provide a vibrant selection of psychedelic colors to create a colorful vibe to decorate with.
Set a cool vibe with invitations and decor!
Let your invitees know about your planned event and the totally groovy theme when you send out the Tie Dye Fun invitations. This is a great time to let guests know, what kind of party you are throwing, such as a cool costume party. Asking your guests to dress as their favorite 60’s personality such as President Kennedy, Janis Joplin, Marilyn Monroe or Astronaut Allen Shepard, to name a few can provide the ultimate décor and entertainment for your event. You can even go as far as assigning each guest a personality and turning it into a cool costume contest and offer a prize for the best representation of that person. Hanging up the Groovy 60s Party Beaded Daisy Flower Curtain at the entrance to your kitchen then add items like the Groovy 60s Party Lava Lamp Whirl Decorations (comes in packages of 5) some colored bulbs, funky lamps and retro-style vintage serving pieces in melamine will create that ultra-groovy carefree scene of the era.
Serve up a menu that will be totally Fab!
Your party will be cool, hip, and anything but square, with these great food ideas:
- Appetizers: As a general rule, it is better to have two memorable snacks than multiple undistinguished canapés. The food should be presented in an attractive arrangement and be tasty as well. Fondue was an extremely popular party food of this era and it is fun and easy to serve. Chocolate fondue is great paired with skewers of fruit while Cheese fondue is delicious when served with breads and vegetables.
- Main Course: Casual entertaining in the 1960s favored theme buffets. Dishes like Lasagna, Chicken A la King, Turkey Parisian, Chicken-rice bake, Salmon Tetrazzini, Veal parmesan with spaghetti, Burgundy beef stew, Swedish meatballs, Hamburger pie, Church-supper tuna bake, and Pork chop suey are all popular dishes from the era.
- Drinks: A cocktail party is the most popular way of entertaining but it can also be the most difficult. As a general rule, plan for four drinks per person and have some supplies in reserve. Offering a non-alcoholic punch is always a good idea for the non-drinkers and under-aged guests. For a different spin on the fruit punch, try substituting one of the ingredients with Tang, a popular drink of the 60’s era.
Push your furniture to the wall and dance some holes in your soles!
The 60’s were carefree and full of free spirited personalities and the dance crazes of this era can be a big party hit as well as a really fun activity. The Twist, as a result of Chubby Checker’s number one song, was the first modern dance style that did not require a partner, and couples did not have to touch each other while dancing. More popular dances of the 60’s included The Hokey Pokey, The Mashed Potato and the Chicken Dance. Clearing out a room and setting up a dance area will really get your guests groovin’ and movin’!
Groovy Party Favors to leave your guests feeling like a Big Deal!
After the party is over and your guests are ready to beat feet home, be sure to send them off with a funky party favor to remember the good times they had at your event. Items such as our Tie Dye Fun Peace Necklace or the White Organza Favor Bags packed with a handful of colorful M&M’s will let your groovy guests know how much you appreciate each and every one of them!
